Welcome to Westhill High School
Ms. Snell (Assistant Principal) and Mr. Dolan (Principal)
Welcome to the Westhill High School webpage. Westhill High School is a suburban school located in the western suburbs of the City of Syracuse with approximately 580 students in grades 9-12.
We have a comprehensive academic program that is aimed at meeting the needs of each student. Our academic curriculum boasts of a rigorous Regents level program in addition to Advanced Placement, SUPA (Syracuse University Project Advance), and Onondaga Community College credit-bearing classes. Many of our students take part in our Project Lead the Way engineering program in addition to the many other academic electives we offer.
Many of our students participate in our outstanding athletic program. Our Varsity boys basketball team won the Class B NYSPHSAA Championship in 2023, state championship in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Our Varsity girls' soccer team became Section III Class B regional champions in 2022. Numerous other teams have won sectional and regional titles. Time and again, our students are recognized as scholar athletes.
Our award winning music and art departments have won numerous awards over the years. The Instrumental Music Department achieved Gold ratings at the NYSSMA Major Ensembles Festival. The groups included were the 7/8 Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble and Wind Ensemble. Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble received the highest rating of Gold With Distinction. In addition, the NAMM Foundation named Westhill CSD among United States' Best Communities for Music Education.
One of our goals at Westhill High School is to increase the number of our graduates who earn a Regents Degree with Advanced Designation. A Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation has more stringent requirements than a Regents Diploma. Last year, 71% of our graduates earned an Advanced Designation Regents Diploma. For more information on the requirements for a diploma with advanced designation, see the Guidance and Counseling Department homepage.
The faculty and administration at Westhill are dedicated to providing an environment where your student can succeed academically and socially. One of the keys to success is communication between the school and home. If there are any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call your student’s teachers, guidance counselor or the administration.
Thank you to the parents, students, faculty and staff. You are all keys to our success at Westhill High School.
Sincerely,
Daniel Dolan, Principal
Meghan Snell, Assistant Principal
